Thomson Reuters NZ

Thomson Reuters business has been publishing and updating information on New Zealand law since 1910.

Like most developing companies, we have gone through several changes: from John Friend Ltd to Brooker and Friend Ltd, to Brookers, to Thomson Brookers. We are now Thomson Reuters New Zealand Limited.

We are a leading provider of information and solutions to the legal, tax, accounting and business markets in New Zealand.

Our business was established in 1910 to supply legal annotation services to Wanganui lawyers. In 2010, as part of our centennial celebrations, we made the video below about that service which is still very much part of our business today.

These days we also provide tailored information solutions in a variety of formats, including online, looseleafs, periodicals, books, CD and journals. Our products and services are produced under the Thomson Reuters, Westlaw, Checkpoint, Proview, Brookers, Employment Today and Safeguard brands.

We employ over 100 people, maintaining two New Zealand offices with our headquarters in Wellington and another office in Auckland. Account managers, online product trainers and technical support staff are based in Auckland, Christchurch, Dunedin, Hamilton and Wellington to provide New Zealand-wide coverage.

In 1994 Brookers became part of the Thomson Corporation, making the transition from a family-owned business to membership of a global publishing and information group. Thomson acquired Reuters in April 2008, to become Thomson Reuters.
