Description
Fisheries Law is a specialised reference for anyone required to provide advice or to research information relating to the regulation and management of New Zealand’s fisheries.
First published in 1995, Fisheries Law contains full commentary and analysis of the Fisheries Act 1996, with extensive links to other legislation and regulations covering the management, conservation and farming of fisheries resources.
Detailed references to case law which interprets the legislation are also included. Relatively few fisheries cases have been reported, and this makes Fisheries Law a valuable resource for everyone who needs to track Court decisions on fisheries regulation.
The service also contains a comprehensive collection of the regulations, notices and orders which impose regulatory requirements both nationally and regionally.
As well as section-by-section analysis, Fisheries Law also contains a number of overviews of fisheries law in New Zealand, placing legislation and regulatory provisions in their historical context and allowing easy tracking of the relationships between repealed and current legislation.
Maori fisheries receive detailed treatment, with extensive coverage of the historical development and reasons for the legislation in force today.
Fisheries Law is an essential reference for anyone providing legal advice to fishing industry participants or any organisation or business involved in the fishing industry.
